Physician<\/a> incomes are highest in the United States, and a decomposition shows that this mainly reflects differences in overall income distributions, rather than physicians\u2019 locations in those distributions. This suggests that broader labor market differences, and thus physicians\u2019 outside options, drive absolute incomes. Shifting US physicians\u2019 incomes to match relative positions in other countries\u2019 distributions would only marginally reduce healthcare spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The U.S. exploits its dominant chokepoints (e.g. dollar-based global financial networks, advanced semiconductor technologies, maritime insurance & trade finance, access to western markets, sovereign assets held in dollars) to pressure Iran, Russia & China, among others.
