Is this true?  I think not. Here&#8217;s why:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Madison lacks wifi at the airport &#8211; lagging other communities who have had this for years.\n<li>There is no production fiber to the home or premise happening here.\n<li>Currently available &#8220;broadband&#8221; services (Charter cable, SBC DSL and TDS DSL) substantially lag those available in Japan &#038; Korea, in terms of performance and cost.<\/ul>\n<p>  I have quite a few links on broadband &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zmetro.com\/archives\/cat_broadband.php\">click to check them out<\/a>.<br \/>\nI think Wallmeyer should revisit this with a comparison of services available elsewhere &#8211; in the US and around the world.  Fiber is coming to the home, <a href=\"http:\/\/isen.com\/blog\/2005\/04\/day-fiber-came-to-my-neighborhood.html\">in a few places<\/a>, just not Madison.   WiFi is widely available in some communities now, just not generally here.  We&#8217;re behind, it&#8217;s as simple as that.<Br><br \/>\nUPDATE: Japan&#8217;s NTT is now offering 100mpbs to the home for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.interesting-people.org\/archives\/interesting-people\/200504\/msg00242.html\">Y4,700\/month<\/a> ($45)&#8230;.
