{"id":4136,"date":"2011-08-20T16:05:24","date_gmt":"2011-08-20T22:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.zmetro.com\/?p=4136"},"modified":"2011-08-20T16:05:24","modified_gmt":"2011-08-20T22:05:24","slug":"4136","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.zmetro.com\/?p=4136","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dyn.politico.com\/printstory.cfm?uuid=4E62E52E-A093-4BAC-9A1C-0537BB90C817\">Dan Levinthal<\/a>: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>Lobby shops and their clients are fast realizing that a full frontal assault on Congress\u2019s budget-slashing supercommittee may not be a fruitful strategy \u2014 particularly as some committee members and senior congressional staffers suggest that K Street won\u2019t be terribly welcome at their negotiating table.<\/p>\n<p>K Street&#8217;s worry is that it won&#8217;t be business as usual in Washington, where lobbyists famously enjoy open access to lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p>Such a scenario may force lobbyists to use indirect techniques to impress clients\u2019 messages upon supercommittee members and their yet-to-be-solidified staffers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re going to have a little bit of a firewall \u2014 that\u2019s exactly what\u2019s going to happen,\u201d said Dave Wenhold of Miller\/Wenhold Capitol Strategies and a former American League of Lobbyists president.<\/p>\n<p>Wenhold, whose clients include municipal governments, public colleges and construction companies, said to expect creativity. &#8220;Grass-roots, grass-tops \u2014 don&#8217;t just approach the D.C. office, go to the district offices, too.
