With the People or Hollywood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cory Doctorow <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boingboing.net\/2005\/06\/20\/urgent_call_your_sen.html\">urges us<\/a> to contact <a href=\"http:\/\/kohl.senate.gov\/gen_contact.html\">Senator Kohl<\/a>, along with others and urge him to stop Hollywood&#8217;s special interests from inserting the <a href=\"http:\/\/clusty.com\/search?query=%22broadcast+flag%22\">broadcast flag<\/a> requirement into a Senate appropriations bill today.  The broadcast flag is yet another reduction in our fair use rights.<\/p>\n<p>This is a classic dead of night, end of game maneuver.   The Wisconsin Senator has voted against our interests recently, including the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zmetro.com\/archives\/002180.php\">National ID bill<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zmetro.com\/archives\/001707.php\">bankruptcy bill<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zmetro.com\/archives\/001703.php\">more<\/a>) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zmetro.com\/archives\/000883.php\">large corporate giveaways<\/a>.  I hope he does the right thing today.  Call his office: (202) 224-5653  or <a href=\"http:\/\/kohl.senate.gov\/gen_contact.html\">send an email<\/a>.  I cannot see <i>any<\/i> benefit to Wisconsin residents of Kohl&#8217;s recent efforts. The EFF has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eff.org\/deeplinks\/archives\/003720.php\">more<\/a>.
